Ben Moody - Lead Guitar
John LeCompt - Guitar
Rocky Gray - Drums

evanescence (ev’e-nes’e ): a dissipation or disappearance like vapor

Although the band’s name may suggest a sudden vanishing, the music of Evanescence is poised for longevity. Fallen, the Wind-up Records debut of this talented quartet from Little Rock, Arkansas, is an emotional, ethereal work of undeniable potency guided by the heavenly vocals of Amy Lee.

“We’re definitely a rock band,” says the 20-year-old Lee. “But the twist is that the band’s music is epic, dramatic, dark rock.”

Co-founders Lee and guitarist/songwriter Ben Moody met while in their early teens. “We were at a youth camp,” Moody recalls. “During some sort of recreational period held in a gymnasium, I heard Amy playing Meat Loaf’s ‘I’d Do Anything for Love’ at the piano. So I went over to meet her, and she started singing for me. I was pretty much blown away, so I suckered her into joining a band with me.” Since that day, the musical relationship has remained dependably loyal. “We have the same exact vision regarding what we love about music,” Moody says. “When it comes to songwriting, we finish each other’s thoughts.”

Evanescence first took shape in Little Rock at the end of the ‘90s. Predictably, the band didn’t quite fit the mold of most others lingering around the Midwestern state. “It’s typically death metal or really soft, older-people music there,” says Lee. “I don't even know of any local bands
that have female singers.”

Influenced by a wide-ranging collection of artists such as Björk, Danny Elfman and Tori Amos, the band started releasing EPs of its material. Even without the benefit of live performances, Evanescence began to establish a reputation.

“A lot of it developed by being elusive,” Moody remembers. “The second song we ever wrote was this seven-minute, ridiculous Goth anthem called ‘Understanding.’ And for some reason, the local rock station decided to play it a lot. We gained this popularity around town, even though no one knew who we were or where to find us. It was because we could never afford to play a show -- it was just Amy and I -- and we couldn’t pay any musicians.”

Fallen was tracked in Los Angeles with producer Dave Fortman (Boy Sets Fire, Superjoint Ritual). The album successfully finds that intangible balance between lush beauty and primal heaviness. Typical of the record is the first single, “Bring Me To Life,” a piano ballad-turned-riff-driven barnburner. Highlighted by a guest vocal from Paul McCoy of 12 Stones, the song is featured prominently in the Daredevil film and soundtrack.

" ‘Bring Me To Life’ is about discovering something or someone that awakens a feeling inside them that they’ve never had before,” says Moody. He continued, “You discover there is a world that is bigger than just your safe bubble.” Also significant is the vibrant anthem “Tourniquet” and the eerie “Haunted,” with its pummeling beats and jarring melodies (augmented by chamber choir arrangements courtesy of Lee). Of the latter, Moody asserts, “It’s the song that is the most ‘us.’ That best sums up what we strive to sound like."

Lyrically, Evanescence explores dark, introspective themes of love, desperation, and despair. But the group insists its fundamental message is a positive one. “The point of this whole record and band is to let people know that they’re not alone in dealing with bad feelings or pain or anything that they go through,” says Lee, who pens most of the words. “That’s life and that’s human. They’re not alone, and we’re going through it, too.”

Live, Evanescence functions as a quartet with John LeCompt (guitar) and Rocky Gray (drums) rounding out the line-up. “As a four-piece, we are able to carry out the intricate harmonies and orchestrations of the memorable material on Fallen,” Moody emphasizes. “We’re very sincere about what we do. There’s so much pre-packaged teen angst these days in music. That’s not us. We’re not trying to sell an angle, we’re just here
writing from our heart.”

Rap music is a style of poetic rhyming set to a heavy beat often including a chorus sung by another performer in the style of traditional pop, rhythm and blues. Rap music is primarily an American medium of music but in recent years has boosted onto the world stage and rappers can now be found in almost every country

Most music fans relate rap music with African American youth from the ghettos, projects and lower strata of American society, since most performers come from one of those backgrounds the idea has gained acceptance.Rap style dates back to the traditional West African story telling that it predates the development of the slave trade. Tribal history would be recited in a rhythmic manner to the drum beats and stamping of feet within the tribal village square and session would often last through the night or at least till early morning..

back street boys biography

[ltr]The Backstreet Boys were, in many ways, a contradictory band. Comprised entirely of white middle-class Americans, the group sang a hybrid of new jack balladry, hip-hop, R&B, and dance club pop that originally found its greatest success in Canada and Europe, with their 1996 debut album charting in the Top Ten in nearly every country on the Continent. Ironically, success in their native land did not follow until nearly two years later, when teen pop enjoyed a commercial explosion in America. Along with such artists as *NSYNC and Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys rose to the forefront of popular music during the turn of the 21st century, with albums like Backstreet's Back, Millennium, and Black & Blue enjoying worldwide success.

The core of the Backstreet Boys was comprised of cousins Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell, both of whom hailed from Lexington, KY. The two began singing in local church choirs and festivals while they were children, performing doo wop and R&B songs in the style of Boyz II Men. Two of the group's other members, Howie Dorough and A.J. McLean, were natives of Orlando, FL, who met each other -- as well as transplanted New Yorker Nick Carter -- through auditions for local commercials, theater, and television. At one audition, the three discovered that they shared an affection for classic soul and could harmonize well together. Inspired, they formed a vocal trio. Shortly thereafter, Richardson moved to Orlando, where he became a tour guide at Disney World and concentrated on music at night. Eventually, he met Dorough, Carter, and McLean through a co-worker, and the four decided to form a group, naming themselves after an Orlando flea market. Littrell was later invited to join, thus turning the group into a quintet.

With the help of Louis J. Pearlman (who would later rise to mogul status on the strength of his teen pop acts), the Backstreet Boys secured management from Donna and Johnny Wright, the latter of whom had managed New Kids on the Block during the 1980s. The Wrights put the group out on the road and enlisted several A&R reps to attend the performances, which eventually resulted in a contract with Jive Records in 1994. Jive set the Backstreet Boys up with producers Veit Renn and Tim Allen, who helped shape the group's eponymous album. Released throughout Europe in late 1995, the record enjoyed considerable success, spending several weeks in the Top Ten in most Continental countries where it charted. In the U.K., the Backstreet Boys were named Best Newcomers of 1995 at the Smash Hits Awards thanks to their international hit single "We've Got It Goin' On." After scoring another European hit with "I'll Never Break Your Heart," the group released its album in Canada. Despite the Backstreet Boys' popularity in Europe and Canada, "We've Got It Goin' On" stalled in the lower reaches of the U.S. charts in 1995.

Combining their international singles with new tracks (which also formed the centerpiece of that year's European-only album Backstreet's Back), the American version of Backstreet Boys finally jump-started the group's success at home. "Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)" and "As Long as You Love Me" proved to be popular singles, with the former track climbing to platinum status. The album continued to spin off hits well into 1999, with "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)," "I'll Never Break Your Heart," and "All I Have to Give" all landing on the charts. Both the former and the latter were platinum Top Five hits, and the album eventually sold an astounding 14 million copies in America alone.

In the meantime, the group saw its share of turmoil as Littrell underwent surgery in early 1998 to correct a congenital heart defect. Additionally, the Boys became embroiled in lawsuits against Pearlman and the rest of their management over royalties. When the dust settled, Pearlman remained the group's manager -- though the rest of the team was fired -- and the Boys began work on their follow-up album. Millennium was released in the summer of 1999 and debuted at number one, with first-week sales topping one million copies. Buoyed by songs like "I Want It That Way," "Larger Than Life," "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely," and "The One", Millennium shattered a number of records, including the highest amount of shipments in one year and the most copies sold during an album's inaugural week. The group released its Christmas Album before the end of the year, by which time Millennium was well on its way to sales of 12 million copies in the U.S. On an international level, the album eventually sold more than 40 million units.

Once again, the group struck immediately after its previous album stopped producing hits, issuing Black & Blue in fall 2000. More Top 40 singles followed, including "The Call" and "Shape of My Heart", and Black & Blue followed its predecessor by selling over one million copies during its first week. A popular tour supported the album, but after seven years of nonstop touring and recording, the band agreed it was time for a break. Brian Littrell became a father while Kevin Richardson tried his hand at Broadway and took a starring role in the musical Chicago. Nick Carter released his solo album Now or Never in 2002, Howie Dorough did charity work for the Dorough Lupus Foundation in honor of the sister he had lost to the disease, and A.J. McLean made headlines with his stint in rehab.

In 2004, the Backstreet Boys re-formed and began work on a new album. The result, Never Gone, was released in June 2005 to platinum sales, followed by Unbreakable in 2007. The latter was the first album not to feature all five original members, as -----------Kevin Richardson had quietly exited the group in 2006----------. It was also the group's first album not to go platinum, a fact that seemingly cemented the end of the Backstreet Boys' heyday. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide-the laytest part

The band Metallica was formed on October 15 1981 by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. Starting at the very beginning on February 10 1962 Cliff Burton was born. On November 18 of the same year Kirk Hammett was born. On March 4 1963 Jason Newstead was born. On August 3 James Hetfield was born and on December 26 Lars Ulrich was born. These are the main members in the band Metallica.

It was 1977 when Jason Newstead formed his first band Diamond with Kevin Kendrick, Todd Smiedendorf and Tom Depoy in Niles, Michigan U.S.A. it was also in this year that the Newstead family relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan. In the September of this year James Hetfield started his first year at Downey high school and befriended Ron Mcgovney who would latter become the first bassist in Metallica.

In 1978 James Hetfield joined his first band Obsession with Jim Arnold, Rich and Ron Veloz. 1979 was the year when James's mother passed away and this led to the family relocating to L.A California.

James formed a band called Phantom Lord in 1980 - 1981 with Jim Mulligan and Hugh Tanner. It was also in this year that James first got together with Lars Ulrich. This happened after replying to an advert in local paper the Recycler where Lars was advertising to find like minded musicians. This lead to the infamous falling cymbal and bad playing experiences. James felt that he couldn't play with Lars at his current skill level.

Ron Mcgovney joined Phantom Lord which renamed to Leather Charm but the band fell apart when the drummer and guitarist left. It was in this year that Lars persuaded friend Brian Slagel to include a band he could get together to have a slot on a heavy metal compilation LP that he was producing. Lars approached James with the idea of forming a band but this time with the offer of getting a song onto a record which would become the "Metal Massacre L.P".

The band METALLICA is formed on October 15 1981.

On October 31 Jason Newstead and Tom Hamlin relocate to Phoenix Arizona from Kalamazoo, MI.

1982 was the year in which Metallica really took off by the end of the year they would have played their first headlining gig, changed their bass player, recorded four demo tapes and had their first appearance on an official record (Metal Massacre).

The first demo that Metallica produced was recorded in January of 1982 it was a one track demo of Hit the Lights Lloyd Grant overdubbed the guitar solo. In March the band recorded their second demo it was a three track demo one original song, the second version of hit the lights and 2 cover songs killing Time / Let It Loose. The band recorded this demo so that they could get the opening slot with Saxon at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in California.

It was on March 14 that Metallica played there first gig at radio city Anaheim in California. The demo that the band recorded proved to be worthwhile as they got the slot opening for Saxon and played there on March 28.

In April Metallica recorded their third demo tape untitled but later to be called "The Power Metal Demos" this demo tape was four original songs the 3rd version of Hit The Lights, The Mechanix, Jump In The Fire and Motorbreath.

Metallica's only appearance as a 5 piece happened on April 23 with Damien Phillips (aka Jeff Warner). James did not want to have to sing and play guitar so the band were looking for a vocalist. James Hetfield played his first gig on rhythm guitar on May 25 at Lars High school at Back Bay Costa Mesa California. It was at this point that Dave Mustaine joined the band he came to replace Lloyd Grant and played lead guitar, the joining with Dave Mustaine brought the band allot more equipment which they needed at that time.

It was on June 14 that the Metal Massacre LP was released it was Metallica's first appearance on an official record the first release of the LP contained a few mistakes though the bands name was miss spelt Mettallica and Lloyd grants name was misspelled as Loydd Grant. Brian Slagel did not have the money to reprint the sleeves and they had to stay as the were.

July 6 marked the start of the recording of the No Life Til Leather demo tape which contained the songs Hit The Lights (version 4), Seek And Destroy, Motorbreath (version 2), The Mechanix (version 2), Jump In The Fire (version 2), Metal Militia and Phantom Lord. This demo was funded by High Velocity Records

Metallica played their first San Francisco gig at the Keystone on September 18. On November 11 the band played at the Woodstock in Los Angeles supporting Y&T but it was on November 29 that Metallica played their first headlining show in San Francisco with Kirk Hammett's band Exodus opening for them. Ron Mcgovney played his last gig with Metallica on November 30 it was at Mabukay Gardens in San Francisco. It was only on December 10 that Metallica and Ron Mcgovney parted company though.

December 28 1982 was the day when Cliff Burton joined Metallica after persuading them to relocate to San Francisco, this was Cliff's deal for joining the band. This led to Metallica musically reaching a stage they may not have reached if Cliff had not joined the band his influence was immediately noticeable.

1983 was the year that Metallica really made an impact. They moved to San Francisco during February and played their first show on March 5 at the Stone a now legendary venue for Metallica. Kirk Hammett's band Exodus opened for them on what was to be Cliff Burtons first gig with Metallica. It was on the move from LA to SF that the band got a little bit, too personal a view into Dave Mustaines life style. It was decided as soon as they reached SF that they needed to have a new guitarist they already knew Kirk Hammett and it was decided to replace Dave with Kirk. On April 1 Kirk Hammett was asked to join the band. Dave Mustaine played his last gig with Metallica on April 9. It was only on April 11 that the band actually told Dave he was out of the band and gave him a coach ticket back home to LA.

(A PHOTO TAKEN AROUND 1983 WITH JAMES HETFIELD, KIRK HAMMETT, LARS ULRICH AND CLIFF BURTON)

Kirk Hammett played his first gig with Metallica on April 16 in Dover New Jersey. Another very important reason for Metallica's relocation to SF was the work of a record shop owner called John Zazula, John put the band up when they moved to SF in the beginning, they paid their rent by the sale of the No Life Til Leather demo tape through John's shop. John also at this time had a record label called Megaforce records. Metallica signed to this record label it was their first contracted record label. Only days later on May 10 Metallica started work on their first album later to be titled Kill Em' All (after the people who wouldn't let the album be called Metal Up Your Ass with the picture of a hand holding a knife coming out of a toilet bowl on the cover). the recording of Kill Em' All was finished on May 27.

Metallica start their Kill em' all for one tour with Raven two months later on July 27 the tour went on until September 3. The band then had a short break until they started recording demos for their second album on September 24 which was to be later titled "Ride the Lightning". It was during these sessions that the band recorded the fake live tracks of Phantom Lord and Seek and Destroy which appear as B Sides on the Jump in the Fire single (European release) and Whiplash (USA release). These were the bands first singles they released.

It was around September of 1983 that Jason Newstead formed the band Dogz with Kelly Davidson and when Erik AK joined the band changed their name to Flotsome and Jetsome. This remained Jason's band until he joined Metallica.

Jump in the Fire was released on January 10 1984 the day after the band had there equipment stolen in Boston Ma. It was this event which led to the inspiration for Fade to Black.

Metallica's first European tour started on February 3 with Venom in Zurich Switzerland the tour continued through until February 12th. It was on February 20 after this tour that the band went into the studio to begin recording their second album "Ride the Lightning" at sweet silence studios in Copenhagen Denmark it was to be the first of three albums engineered by Flemming Rasmussen. They finished recording the album on March 14. Once the album had been finished it led to more live shows but a particularly famous one on March 27th at the Marquee Club in London, it was to be Metallica's first appearance in the UK.

Twisted Sister joined Metallica for their second European tour which started on June 6 and lasted until June 10th . It was soon after this tour that Metallica had their first meeting with future manager and future record label Chris Burnstein from Q Prime, this happened on august 1 1984. Metallica let the old manager Jon Zazula go on the August 2. It was also around this time that Metallica were also talking to Bronze record label.

Metallica signed with Elektra records on September 12 this became the bands American record label. Elektra records promptly re-released Ride the Lightning on November 16. Creeping Death EP is released on November 23 with 2 cover songs on the B-Side Am I Evil? by Diamond Head and Blitzkrieg by Blitzkrieg this was to coincide with their first major European tour which started with Tank on November 18. The night before the tour started the band played Trapped Under Ice live for the first time in Paris France. Nearly a month later they played there first headlining show in the UK at the Lyceum Ballroom in London England it was the last show of the European Ride The Lightning tour.

At the beginning of January 1985 with only a two week break Metallica start their USA co head lining tour with W.A.S.P., with Ammored Saint supporting to promote Ride The Lightning. It was on this tour when Fade To Black was played live for the first time in Chicago on February 9. On March the 9 Ride The Lightning peaked in the USA charts at number 100, nine days later the tour ended in Portland Or. Metallica's now legendary performance at the infamous Monsters of Rock festival in England happened on August 17 when the band appeared between Ratt and Bon Jovi in front of 70,000 people. A week later they performed in front of 90,000 people in Oakland, California at the Day On The Green festival.

The recording of Master Of Puppets the bands third album started on September 2 again at the Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen with producer Flemming Rasmussen. During this period the band took time out to play two major festivals the first was the Metal Hammer festival in England on September 14 this was the show where Disposable Heroes was first played live. The second was the Day On The Green festival in Oakland Ca.

One Republic

[ltr]Since summer in 2006, the band has consistently been ranked as one of the top musical acts on MySpace, due to high exposure within the online community. They were started by songwriter and record producer Ryan Tedder and his high school friend Zach Filkins in Colorado Springs. The group formed in 2003 with Ryan Tedder, Drew Brown, Zach Filkins, Eddie Fisher, and Tim Myers in Los Angeles. After signing a deal with Columbia Records they entered the studio in the summer of 2005 with Producer Greg Wells. After a brief stint on Columbia Records, they moved to Interscope Records/Mosley Music Group. Tim Myers left the group in 2007 and Brent Kutzle replaced him.[/ltr]

Linkin Park

[ltr]Linkin Park was originally formed by Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Rob Bourdon, who all knew each other from high school in California. After graduation, Joe Hahn, Dave 'Phoenix' Farrell and Mark Wakefield joined the band. At the time, the band was known as Xero.
Xero recorded their demos in Shinoda's bedroom but failure to secure a record deal caused tensions in the band. Mark Wakefield (the vocalist at the time) and Dave Farrell both left the band.
Chester Bennington was drafted in as Wakefield's replacement. He was formerly the singer for Grey Daze and his distinctive vocal style stood out. The band changed their name to Hybrid Theory for a short time but the addition of Bennington to the band brought a new chemistry and they changed names again to Linkin Park: a homage to Lincoln Park, in Santa Monica.
Although a record deal remained elusive for some time, they eventually signed to Warner Bros. in 1999.
Linkin Park: Commercial Breakthrough
The band's debut album, Hybrid Theory was released in 2000 and was representative of the last five years of the band's work. The album sold over 4.8 million copies in its first year and was the highest-selling album of 2001.
Hybrid Theory was also nominated for three Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Best Rock Album and Best Hard Rock Performance (for 'Crawling'). They won the latter category.
Around this time, Linkin Park performed at a number of high profile events, such as 'Ozzfest, the Family Values tour and their own 'Projekt Revolution', which featured such luminaries as Cypress Hill and Snoop Dogg.
Dave Farrell re-joined the band and they began working on a follow-up album. Reanimation was a remix album that featured tracks from Hybrid Theory and featured Black Thought and Aaron Lewis, among others. The album went to number two in the Billboard 200.
Linkin Park began to write new material whilst completing their extensive promotional tour schedule. They spent some of their free time recording in the studio they had in their tour bus. The resulting album, Meteora was released in 2003 and went to number one in the US album charts. More than 800,000 copies were sold in its first week.
The band undertook another Projekt Revolution, this time with Mudvayne, Blindside and Xzibit. The band was invited by Metallica to play on the Summer Sanitarium Tour, along with Limp Bizkit and the Deftones.
A DVD entitled Live In Texas showcased some of their live performances from the tour.
Following Meteora's commercial success, the band took a brief hiatus. Shinoda worked with Depeche Mode and formed Fort Minor as a side project. Bennington also worked with DJ Lethal and Dead By Sunrise.
Another remix album surfaced, this time produced by Jay-Z and was entitled Collision Course.
Producer Rick Rubin was chosen to work on their next studio album; the release of which was delayed until 2007. Minutes to Midnight was 14 months in the making and sold over 600,000 copies in its first week on sale. It also went to number one on the Billboard 200 album charts.
The band headlined the Download festival in England as well as undertaking their fourth Projekt Revolution tour and embarking on a UK arena tour that culminated in two nights at the O2 Arena in London.[/ltr]

Paramore

[ltr]Paramore is an American rock band from Tennessee. The line up of the band is Hayley Williams on lead vocals and keyboard, Taylor York on rhythm guitar, Josh Farro on lead guitar and back-up vocals, Zac Farro on drums and Jeremy Davis on bass guitar.
Paramore: Formation
Hayley Williams met the Farro brothers when she moved from Lauderdale County to Franklin, Tennessee, to attend private school. Initially, she played in a funk covers band along with Jeremy Davis, which was called The Factory.
The name Paramore is the maiden name of a previous bass player's mother.
In their formative months, the band played in and around Nashville, including a slot on the Vans Warped Tour. After watching Paramore perform at the Taste of Chaos festival, John Janick signed the band to the Fueled By Ramen label.
Paramore: Debut Album & Beyond
A short time before they were due to record their debut album, Jeremy Davis left the band. The remaining four members continued with the planned recordings. The song 'All We Know' was written about his departure and the album, All We Know Is Falling is also thematically based around him leaving the band.
Before touring to promote the album, John Hembree was added to the band's line-up to replace Davis. However, Davis was later asked to rejoin the band, which he did, as Hembree had left after less than five months of Davis' absence.
The director Shane Drake directed the first two videos for the band, for the singles 'Pressure' and 'Emergecy'.
In 2006, Paramore were featured on the Winter Go West Tour, along with The Lashes and Amber Pacific - both Seattle bands. Later that year, Hayley Williams provided vocals for October Fall on their song 'Upside Down'. The following year, she followed this by singing on 'Then Came To Kill' by The Chariot.
Paramore covered 'My Hero' by Foo Fighters for inclusion on the Sound of Superman soundtrack.
In the summer of 2006, Paramore embarked on their first headline US tour, with support from the likes of Cute Is What We Aim For and Hit The Lights.
Paramore' second album, entitled Riot! was released in June 2007. Following the departure of the original guitarist, Hunter Lamb, Taylor York joined the line-up. The album was produced by David Bendeth, who had previously worked with Breaking Benjamin and Your Vegas. The lead single from the album was 'Misery Business'.
At the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, Paramore were nominated for the Best New Artist category but lost the award to Amy Winehouse. Early that year, they toured with New Found Glory and Kids in Glass Houses to promote the release of Riot! Following a short break to resolve differences within the band, Paramore hit the road again, this time with Jimmy Eat World.

Evanescence

[ltr]The goth-inspired Arkansas rock band Evanescence, with its Linkin Park-meets-Tori Amos sound backed by chugging guitars, easily made it to the top of the charts in 2003 with its Wind-Up Entertainment debut album, Fallen. Amy Lee and guitarist/songwriter Ben Moody formed the band at the end of the '90s after meeting in their early teens during a "youth camp," Moody said in a statement. "I heard Amy playing Meat Loaf's 'I'd Do Anything for Love' at the piano. So I went over to meet her, and she started singing for me. I was pretty much blown away, so I suckered her into joining a band with me." As a duo, Evanescence didn't perform live, instead opting to release EPs and the full-length Origin. Lee told the BBC that Evanescence was mastering demos in Memphis, TN, when she and the band were discovered by producer Pete Matthews. He shopped the songs to record companies in New York, and Evanescence eventually landed a contract with Wind-Up Entertainment, the home of Creed. The soundtrack to the 2003 Ben Affleck action movie Daredevil brought success to Evanescence. The begging "Bring Me to Life," which appeared on the soundtrack along with the ballad "My Immortal," became a hit. Paul McCoy, of labelmates 12 Stones, raps on "Bring Me to Life," which originated as a piano ballad. It proved to be a head start to Evanescence's future hit album Fallen, produced by Dave Fortman (Boy Sets Fire, Superjoint Ritual) and released in March 2003. Evanescence ran head first into controversy promoting Fallen. Originally, it was released in the Christian and secular markets; however, the band's use of profanity during an interview with Rolling Stone prompted its label, Wind-Up Records, to recall Fallen from Christian stores. Ironically, 12 Stones is also labeled Christian. Fallen surpassed double platinum, making the Top Ten in the United States, including the Top Contemporary Christian Albums chart, the Top Five in Canada, and number one in the United Kingdom. Live, the duo fills out its lineup with John LeCompt on guitar and Rocky Gray on drums. [/ltr]

Kings of Leon

[ltr]The southern rock outfit Kings of Leon is comprised of the brothers Caleb (guitar), Nathan (drums), and Jared Followill (bass).
While traveling across America's heartland during the late '80s and '90s with their evangelist father, the boys listened to the Rolling Stones and Neil Young. By the time Kings of Leon settled in Nashville in 1998, making music a career was already underway. Taking Leon from the names of their father and paternal grandfather, the Followill family formed a band in 2000 and added cousin Matthew to the group. Within months a southern garage rock sound quickly emerged. A deal with RCA followed in 2001 and their Holy Roller Novocaine EP appeared two years later. Tours across North America and the UK coincided with the release of Youth and Young Manhood in summer 2003.
After UK sucess with singles, 'Molly's Chambers', 'Wasted Time' and 'California Waiting', the band retreated to the studio. After apperances at Ireland's Oxegen festival, and T In The Park, they tweaked final bits and pieces of their second album, 'A-ha Shake heartbrake.' 'The Bucket' was the first single off the November-released album. This was then suceeded by massively catchy second single, Four Kicks. The third single was to be the hoe-down of King Of The Rodeo[/ltr]

Green Day

[ltr]Green Day is an American punk rock band that has had huge global success since it's debut major label release, Dookie in 1994.
Green Day: Formation
As teenagers, Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt started up a band named Sweet Children. The band's first show was in October 1987 in Vallejo, California, at Rod's Hickory Pit, where Mike's mother worked at the time.
The next year, the band began working with John Kiffmeyer who played drums but also booked shows for the band. In 1989, the band changed their name to Green Day and released their debut EP '1,000 Hours' on Lookout! Records.
In 1990, Lookout! Records also released Green Day's debut album, 39/Smooth, as well as two more EPs, 'Slappy' and 'Sweet Children'. The next year, they released 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, which was a combination of the debut EP and the debut LP. The drummer at the time, Sobrante, left to attend college and was replaced by Tré Cool.
Green day's second album, Kerplunk sold over 50,000 copies in the USA, which was an impressive amount for an underground punk band at the time.
Green Day: Hitting The Mainstream
Green day signed to Reprise Records and recorded their major label debut, Dookie, which was released in 1994. The singles, 'Basket Case', 'Longview' and 'When I Come Around' all received heavy MTV airplay and the band was added to the Lollapalooza and Woodstock bills. Dookie won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album in 1995.
Insomniac was released in 1995 and spawned the singles 'Geek Stink Breath', 'Brain Stew/Jaded', 'Walking Contradiction' and 'Stuck With Me'. The video for 'Walking Contradiction' won the 'Best Video, Short Form' Grammy Award in 1996. The band cancelled a European tour in 1996, due to exhaustion.
Released in 1997, Nimrod provided more of a diversion from the band's standard punk-pop fare. The album entered the US charts at number 10 and the single 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)' earned the band an MTV Award for Best Alternative Video. The song was twice featured in separate episodes of E.R..
Warning was released in 2000. The single 'Minority' was a hit for the band and so, to a lesser degree, was the title track. Warning earned a gold certification, though all of the band's previous albums had achieved at least a double platinum status at this point in their career.
Green Day then released a greatest hits compilation entitled International Superhits! In addition to this, they released a compilation of B-sides entitled Shenanigans and a collection of videos, International Supervideos! From Shenanigans, 'Espionage' was featured on the soundtrack to Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and was nominated for a 'Best Rock Instrumental Performance' Grammy Award.
In 2003, Green Day collaborated with Iggy Pop on his album Skull Ring. The next year, their American Idiot album debuted at number one in the US album charts. American Idiot won the 2005 Grammy Award for 'Best Rock Album'. Recordings from the supporting tour were released as Bullet in a Bible.
In 2006, 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' was named 'Record of the Year' at the Grammy Awards.[/ltr]
